About Us
Jose Sandoval
I have worked and consulted for a variety of North American software development
companies and large Canadian financial institutions.
I like to play with new technologies, and running this consulting firm allows
me to work with different clients in different development environments:
the more I work, the more I get to play. And from each consulting engagement
I take I learn a great deal--this allows me to bring different points of view and practical knowledge to new projects.
Aside from hands-on development experience, I hold a Bachelor of Mathematics
from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.

For my undergraduate degree, I concentrated in Mathematics and Computer
Science, which are both theoretical in nature. At Waterloo,
areas of study included algorithm design, database system design, information
system design, and networking technologies. (I am sure the curriculum
has been updated to account for newer scientific discoveries, but the
underlying themes are still the same.)
As mathematics students, we were also encouraged to balance our theoretical
education with courses from the other faculties on campus. Therefore,
I took a mix of courses in History, English, Physics, Psychology, Philosophy,
and Fine Arts. At the time, it felt as if these extra courses were taking
me away from computer labs and theorem proofs, but I have come to appreciate
the differences between Surrealism and Impressionism--in retrospect, it was time well
spent. If this requirement did anything at all, it gave me a different
perspective of the world around me. However, I have a feeling that this
is the whole point of education: broaden your point of view beyond
the self.
For my graduate work, I concentrated in Operations Management, which has
more to do with Innovation and Technology Management than it has to do
with Supply Chain Management. I also took elective courses in Marketing
(B2B and services), investment management (portfolio management), entrepreneurship,
and strategic management.
The Laurier MBA is a combination of applied studies, research studies, and practical management
opportunities. Aside from offering a wide variety of elective courses, Laurier's
graduation requirements include two practicum projects: first, a consulting
group engagement consisting of 200 hours (per individual) of actual work;
and second, a consulting engagement consisting of 40 hours of consulting
work performed for a Not-For-Profit organization in the Waterloo region.
In summary, the program prepares you to run large enterprises, or to
run and grow your own businesses into sustainable and socially responsible
operations.
